I thought being back hometown 3 months ago wouldn't set me out for another culture shock. I was so wrong! Again, it was a let down.
Setting down my feet at one of the busiest port in town proved to be hazardous. It was a total havoc. The new lrt which started off few months back was a disaster especially during rushing hours.
I went to queue up for the ticket and when it's my turn, the machine showed $2.30. So I quickly searched my pocket and I found $2.40 with the double 20c coins. It refused to accept my last 20c and insisted for an exact payment. I tried thrice and there was a queue behind me. Then I went to the counters. There were 2. I went to counter 1 and enquired. Most of the people were asked to queue at counter 2 when we told that we wanted to purchase tickets.
Again we queued up at counter 2, then we were told we had to purchase from the machine and they won't entertain customers at the counters. I reasoned with her that the machine refused to accept my credit. So she gave me smaller change and asked me to queue up again at the machine. Of course I mumbled abit in front of her coz I was so tired of queueing and waiting again!
Being in the busiest port, I really think the service sucks and the system was very badly done. The system should ease the people and not asking people to adapt them. For a person who seldom used this kinda public transport, it proved to be frustrating. Many people stucked in the station and many hours are wasted while the workers doing nothing sitting in the counter watching people struggling to get the tickets. I reckon that once I didn't know how to get through the entry port because the gate refused to open after I touched the token over the screen, this worker just looked at me from the counter with a blank face and didn't have the courtesy of helping me out. It took me sometime to figure out how to get through and he was still sitting there. Lousy company.
Then today I went to the newly opened mall in the neighbourhood. Boy, the development is so fast! When I was a kid, this place was a jungle. And now, skyscrapers are everywhere. So I went into the parking space and did a lil shopping in the mall. When I was trying to leave the parking, gosh....my nerve got irritated again. How can a mall has no signs leading people to exit!!! Cars were seen moving round and round looking for the exit point. No, it was different from the entry point. All the signs showed were merely 'parking'. In the end after taken a few turning, I finally found the exit and they started to have the sign just in front of the exit point. The colour of the sign, dark green and blue.....!@#$%. Try mixing both colours, and you will find yourself colour blind. That's really an idiotic design of the parking lot.
Ok, I know it's not really an impression, but at least I could have some rest at home today. The weather is rainy and cold. I am glad that's soothing a lil bit. Tomorrow will head to granny's place. It's gonna be a huge gathering. I need some rest then.
Have a Hpy Chinese New Year, folks!
